Basketball Jones

Hey.

I'm in some serious withdrawal right now.

We were able to watch two of the best conference finals I've seen in years. Every night we either had Kobe and Melo or LeBaby and Superman.

Now there is nothing.

Damn you NBA. Did you just assume the CF's were going 7 games? Why do we have to wait SOOOOO LOOOOOOOOONG to see the Lakers win? [Dear God: please let the Lakers win]

I know, I know. Just one more night. I am going crazy though. I think I've read every article and watched every video on nba.com, si.com, and nba.com.

One more night.

Sigh...

King Baby Lebron James

I know Lebron really wanted to win, and I suspect he really didn't want any of us to see him cry...but if little kids can pull it together enough to shake hands after a tough loss, shouldn't someone going home to his mansion and half a billion dollars be able to shake hands?

"...I"m a winner...it's hard to congratulate someone when you lose...that doesn't make me a poor sport or anything...when someone beats you, you don't go congratulate them..."C'mon Le Bomba.

Yes, that does make you a poor sport. In fact, that is the definition of being a poor sport.

This is what happens when little kids get drafted out of High School and handed hundreds of millions of dollars in endorsement deals before they are even finished with puberty.

I will bet my bank account against Lebomb's that if the situation was reversed, he'd be crying about the other team not bowing down to...excuse me, not properly congratulating the so called "King".

Stay classy, King Baby.

Lebron James Overload

OK. I know he's the second coming in a basketball jersey. But I am getting sick of Lebron. Obviously, I do not know the man. I am sick of the hype, the hyperbole, the everything.

He is seemingly grounded and as humble as one could be walking in his shoes. Blah blah blah...puke, wretch, blech, etc. With his money I could hire a PR coach too.

But I'm over it. His basketball skills aren't even that phenomenal. REALLY, they're not that remarkable people. He has obviously practiced shooting for millions of hours. Yet his movements seem labored and awkward; albeit extremely effective.

There is nothing pretty, graceful, or fluid about what he does. He looks like a grown man totally dominating a bunch of children at a game of double dutch. He's stronger, faster, more powerful...but he looks kind of...awkward and not right when he's doing it.

What he he is though...is an amazing physical specimen of a human being. He's what, 6' 10" and about 275? but he's fast, real fast...and very athletic. You get the idea he really could have picked any sport and been naturally better at it than 99.99% of the humans on the earth.

Have you seen the footage of him playing football in High School? He set records. He was being scouted. He'd probably be a pro tight end or receiver in the NFL right now. My point is, he could probably kick your ass at any physical competition of any kind. Bowling? You're screwed. Ping Pong? His arms are long enough to smack you from across the table. You get the idea.

He hasn't won sh*t except a gold medal. And for probably the only time in his life, he was not the best player on that team.

He's cool, I like him. I'm just saying I could use a week or two or a year where I didn't have see his face or hear his voice.

Tune in next time when we rant about David Stern and how the NBA needs new leadership.
